BS to the power of FUD ^^
The thing is although ARM chips are pretty good in the low power range right now, nothing says that they will perfectly scale in power for a higher performance range.
Every major player in the chips industry started seeing more and more problems when they started reaching the manufacturing processes ARM will only reach in a couple of years (currently A15 -> 45nm).
High performance is where Intel is very good at, and their announcement of 3D transistor in Ivy Bridge already will only make them way better in performance and power consumption, and all that as soon as the end of this year (first machines probably next year).
Now transition from a software standpoint would be painful, but maybe not horrible...
Apple's compiler already manages ARM architecture, and part of the interest in LLVM is the possibility of JIT compilation.
But a switch of architecture right now would need Apple to ask devs to re-compile their software, and maybe a change from some libraries, all that for an uncertain gain right now and improbable gain in the future (Intel will remain the master in high performance computing).

So Steve is saying there is no database of locations? Thats just an outright lie.
He didn't say that at all. The question was if Apple is tracking user locations. He said no. Which is correct. The information never leaves your iphone or computer.
Unlike the app that shows the map of the spots which calls out to two servers, one of which couldn't be identified and for all we know is recording your data along with your IP and other deets.

The download for the Mobileme control panel for windows is free. It's very basic but all people really need is to link with Outlook contacts and Exchange. Everything else can be done me.com.
Thanks. I was thinking of the equivalent phone/cloud service offered by Microsoft. Looks like it includes a Findmyphone feature and some basic storage and photo options and assumedly an email account.

I'm fine leaving my phone un-jal broken. But I think Toyota and other companies should cater to the jail broken community too. Its understandable that Apple would ask. But hopefully it doesn't go beyond asking.
Something tells me "jail broken community" grossly overstates the size of this segment of the population.

so I was looking around the apple store this afternoon till I noticed something :D
When selecting the MBP in the apple store you'll get some info below...
There's this one title where it shows front row... it says "It's showtime" :)
maybe it's a hint from apple :rolleyes: the MBP is the onle one where it says "it's showtime". the rest all say something else like "put on a show"...
ah well I'm just going crazy from waiting for the new MBP's...
(first post though I've been reading here for a long time)

I wish Apple would keep features at a minimum. My current phone has so many features that I don't use. I don't care if it can surf the internet nor do I care if it can take pictures. Could I just get a phone with a great address book that syncs really well with my mac? I just want an excellent way to keep control of my contacts, that's it. Any mobile phone companies out there listening? Stop putting features in that I don't care about.

You can burn Lion already. In LionDeveloperPreview2/Contents/SharedSupport burn the "InstallESD.dmg" to a single layer DVD or a USB drive/stick.

What was hard about previous installations ? Pop CD in, run upgrade. Same process.
You didn't have to boot off the SL CD to install it, you could start the upgrade process from Leopard just fine.

Somehow "Archive and Install" didn't carry over any issues with a 10.X upgrade whereas I noticed that some upgrades over a previous OS or using your last "Time Machine" backup carry over or create issues. I'd rather erase the drive, install a clean OS, then copy over only necessary documents and reinstall important programs manually (and port over the plist's from the previous OS in a "Time Machine" backup restore point folder).

So many has bought an iPhone 4. At&t and Verzion.
We all are on a 2 year contract.
This being a spec update only people still with the 3GS or huge fanboys would buy the iPhone 5.
So I wonder that maybe this new iPhone coming out won't be great on sales.
iPhone 6th generation is where it's at. Many iPhone 4 users, fanboys, and those still with their 3G or 3GS iPhones would grab the iPhone 6. Sale numbers would be high.
I am a fanboy of Apple but in being a college student I have to watch the money I spent and spending the extra cash to update to a new iPhone while on a 2 year contract isn't a wise choice for me.

No. Don't stretch to the bezel, unless the bezel is getting bigger, which is the same bloody thing as making a bigger phone. I don't want the screen at the edge of the phone, and nobody makes this, for good reason. You have to be able to hold onto something on the phone. Really.
I'm getting so sick of hearing this excuse. NO ONE holds the phone by the TINY little black glass area next to the screen (right and left in portrait orientation)... the hold it by the metal edge, which has nothing to do with how close the edge of the screen is to the edge of the phone.

i worked it out as 288 using BODMAS order, or PEDMAS as you americans call it :P
good idea to use Wolfram, that thing is pretty insane, and even Google can do it! step it up OS X calculator! :D

It's clearly a "form over function" fail as the words are hard to read in the buttons. At least on the iPad, they had the decency to provide some contrast by making the letters white. It's horrible looking!
Then again, it's a developer preview. But I realllly hope stuff like that doesn't stick around. It's like the translucent menu bar introduced in 10.5 which everyone complained about that didn't get fixed until 10.5.2.
