Megan Fox's Marilyn Monroe Tattoo Is Disappearing

t appears that Megan Fox has had a falling out with her Marilyn Monroe tattoo. Something Marilyn said?
Megan's large tattoo of the gorgeous Hollywood icon on her right forearm is noticeably faded (at right), compared with an earlier image of the blue-eyed babe (at left). We've heard of tattoo regretsbefore but removals are usually reserved for ex-lovers, misspelled words and dessert treats on a person's face. Obviously Fox's removal is not yet complete but she's received at least the first of a series of laser treatments. That gives her a little bit of time to think of a replacement.
We hereby nominate Michael Bay.

Kate Hudson 'doesn't feel prepared' for the birth of her second child

The 32-year-old actress ' who has a seven-year-old son Ryder from her marriage to ex-husband Chris Robinson - is expecting a baby with her fiance Matt Bellamy and is amazed she is already nearing the end of her pregnancy.

She said: "Were getting close ' weeks. Getting close enough to almost not be able to fly. I don't feel prepared. I can't believe how fast it's gone."

Kate and Matt have been dating for a year and she was amazed at how quickly she fell for him because she was enjoying her life as a single woman before she met the musician.

She told TV talk show host David Letterman: "I was so excited to be single.

"And of course that's when you meet this amazing love. There he is - 'I love you'. Next thing you know, you're knocked up!"

Kate ' who only revealed yesterday (27.04.11) she had got engaged to the Muse frontman last week ' feels "lucky" to have someone like Matt as her lover.

She said: "He's a lovely, lovely man, English boy, a musician, and he's wonderful. I feel very lucky."

As the due date approaches, Kate still thinks she is expecting a baby girl, and joked she expects the new arrival to be "wild", following in the footsteps of the other women in her family, including her mother Goldie Hawn.

She said: "It means what's inside of me is wild."

Jessica Simpson is trying to get in shape in time for her wedding

The singer-and-actress - who is engaged to former NFL player Eric Johnson - has revealed that she has set a date for the big day and is exercising to make sure she looks her best when she walks down the aisle.

She said: "I have a date - I'm really excited!"

"I am going to dance around my bedroom and hopefully lose some weight - and lift some weights and do what I can!"

However, the 30-year-old blonde refuses to follow restrictive diets or spend hours in the gym, preferring to tone up in a way that's less demanding.

She explained: "I just have to work out on my own. There is no regimen I need to follow. There's no diet I need to follow. I just need to do some things for myself and that's it. And that will make me feel the happiest."

Jessica is also thinking about what dress she will wear and can't make up her mind which one to choose.

The beauty told Us Weekly magazine: "I'm still trying to figure out what to wear! I don't know if I want the big boom, or the curvy thing, but it will be something beautiful."

Whatever she chooses is likely to be revealing, with the 'Dukes of Hazzard' star recently saying she wants to show off her assets.

Using the French term for neckline, she said: "I have a long neck, so I like to show off my decolletage."

Selena Gomez, Leighton Meester Say 'Monte Carlo' Is 'Like A Fairy Tale'

This July, Selena Gomez, Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy will find themselves swept up in the magic of France for the comedic caper "Monte Carlo." The film was shot last summer in the very scenic world of Paris and Monte Carlo, and the cast was eager to talk about the many misadventures of the flick.
" 'Monte Carlo' is a tale of stolen gems and teenage high jinks — not teenage high jinks, really; young-adult high jinks," "Glee" star and the film's leading man, Cory Monteith, told MTV News last summer when we were on the set of the film in Monte Carlo.
"Gossip Girl" star Meester explained that crazy things happen when three small-town American girls finally get the vacation of their dreams — well, it's more of a case of "be careful what you wish for."
" 'Monte Carlo' is about three young women from Texas who go to Paris together on a trip," she explained. "There's a big case of mistaken identity in a really nice hotel in Paris that they end up in, and they're whisked away to Monte Carlo."
At the center of that mistaken identity is Gomez, who also plays a famous British heiress as well as the small-town girl. "It's a fun movie about three girls who try to go on a vacation," Gomez said. "And it ends up being horrible and my character gets mistaken for a British heiress, and they figure, 'What better way to make a horrible vacation amazing than to be a British heiress?' "
Well, craziness ensues, and, as Cassidy put it, it's not all that bad. "It's kind of like a fairy tale, in a sense. The three of us go on this adventure from a lower class in Texas to the glitz and glamour of Paris and Europe," she said. "I think fans can expect a wonderful, fun adventure that they get to go on with these adventures, full-circle, seeing all different sides of the glitz and glamour and also being able to relate to these girls in a different way."
It's Summer Movie Preview Week, and MTV News will be bringing you exclusive interviews, clips and photos for the most anticipated films of the coming months. Get ready to gorge on inside looks at "Captain America," "The Hangover Part II," "X-Men: First Class," "Cowboys & Aliens" and more.

She said: "Matthew's really excited and is going to be a beautiful father.

"I'm hoping the baby has his kind nature, he's very loving and nurturing, so I hope the baby inherits these qualities. That and his eyes, because he has amazing ones."

While Kate and Matt are very happy together, she insists they have no plans to get married.

She told Britain's HELLO! magazine: "He's lovely and he's going to be an amazing father, but marriage' If it was right and if it felt right, I probably would. I wouldn't count it out. But it's not in my future right now.

"Right now, I'm just looking forward to having the baby."

Kate is planning to cut back on her working commitments once she has her baby in July.

She said: "I'll have the baby to look after and Ryder is at an age where it's so fun with his baseball and karate. If I work, I'll have to go away from that and I don't want to miss another second of it.

Miley Cyrus Surprises Lauren Alaina On 'American Idol'

Superstars swing through the hallways of "American Idol" on a weekly basis, but on Wednesday (April 27), Lauren Alaina was greeted by one of her very own idols. Miley Cyrus surprised the finalist with an impromptu visit during her mentoring session.
With the assistance of Babyface and Jimmy Iovine, Alaina's weekly training session was running smoothly as she rehearsed her cover of Carole King's "Where You Lead."
"About halfway through my meeting with Jimmy, he had a big surprise for me," Alaina gushed to viewers in a pre-taped segment on the show. "Miley Cyrus walks in. I was like [jaw drops open] ... she was so nice and she gave me such great advice."
With her long curly locks and dressed in an all-black ensemble, Cyrus offered a hug to the aspiring songstress and shared a few friendly words of advice.
"I listen to your music all the time. You're awesome," the "Hannah Montana" star told the 16-year-old. "The most important thing you can do is just do it for yourself because you will always have mean comments. People will always talk about you and that's never going to change."
Alaina's impromptu visit from Miley seemed to have boosted her confidence for Wednesday night's performance. From those high-hitting notes to her inviting a male audience member onstage, the contestant playfully strutted, ending her performance with a chuckle.
News of Cyrus' surprise appearance on "Idol" hit the Internet early Wednesday morning when E! Online reported that Iovine asked the superstar to be a mentor as a result of a remark he'd made earlier in the competition. A few weeks back, Alaina chose to sing Cyrus' hit song "The Climb," which led Iovine to tell the contestant she was "a much stronger singer than Miley Cyrus."

Seth Meyers 'Excited' By Lady Gaga/ Justin Timberlake 'SNL' Prospects

When "Saturday Night Live" wraps up its season on May 21, it will have two of the biggest names in the entertainment world on hand to keep everyone buzzing through Monday morning. "SNL" darling and Hollywood A-lister Justin Timberlake has been tapped to host with pop music superstar Lady Gaga onboard to delight fans as the night's musical guest.
It's a pairing that has "SNL" writer/ "Weekend Update" host Seth Meyers very excited.
"Timberlake and Gaga! [I've got] nothing. It's a month out!" he told MTV News at the Time 100 gala in New York City about his plans for the twosome.
"I'm not even thinking about it! I have two shows before then. I can't believe how I'm slacking," he joked, adding, "Mostly, I'm just taking care of the business ahead of me, like athletes taking it a game at a time."
Fans would probably love to see Justin and Gaga pair up for a sketch, and the "SNL" head writer said he isn't against that idea. "I would love it," Meyers said. "[Lady Gaga] was great. She was one of the best musical acts we've ever had. Obviously, when it comes to being a performer, she's without peer, so I'm really excited to have both of them there together."
As for Timberlake, who has won two Emmys for his work on the late-night comedy staple, Meyers admitted, "Basically, he owns it!"
The multitalented pop stars will appear on the show in time to promote some of their latest projects. Timberlake's flick "Bad Teacher" opens on June 24 and Gaga's Born This Way drops May 23.

Derek Hough's pet name for Cheryl Cole is 'Dimples'

The 25-year-old dancer was so delighted when his rumoured girlfriend landed a judging role on the US version of 'The X Factor' after he helped her rehearse that he sent her a bunch of roses with a message which included his special name for her.
Derek's note read: 'Congratulations Dimples. You're a superstar . I knew you would do it. D x (sic)'

A source told The Sun newspaper: 'Derek spent hours with Cheryl practising for her screen tests at Fox and saw all the stress she went through when the producers gave her such a hard time. He was made up for her when she finally got the gig.'

While Cheryl is worried that viewers will find her strong Newcastle accent difficult to understand, Derek has promised to help her with some American sayings to win over the Stateside audience.

Cheryl will join Simon Cowell, record executive L.A. Reid and former 'American Idol' judge Paula Abdul - on the panel for the talent show.

Speaking about Cheryl's new role, Simon said: "With Cheryl, when I hired her initially I'd only met her literally once when I offered her the job on 'The X Factor'. I thought she was bright, cute, knew what she was talking about, ambitious.

"You meet someone special a few times in your life. This girl is special. She's got a great ability to communicate. She's a great judge. She's smart. It's just a hunch. If people take to her like the British public did, I think she's going to do really well in America. Fox were desperate to hire her.'

Dannii Minogue uses her brother as her baby agony aunt

The TV star returned to her native Australia while she was pregnant with her first child, Ethan ' who is now nine months old ' and has now made her house Down Under her main residence, which she admits is great because she constantly speaks to her sibling Brendan, who has two sons of his own, for advice.
Dannii ' whose sister is pop superstar Kylie Minogue - said: "When I gave birth I wanted to be near my parents, who are always worrying about me and telling me to slow down. Our home in Melbourne is our more permanent base now, and it's really nice, because my brother lives down the road and he has two little kids ' he's the hotline when I need advice."

Dannii ' who, along with British boyfriend Kris Smith, splits her time between Australia and the UK, where she stars as a judge on TV talent show 'The X Factor' ' admits she finds her home country a more relaxing place to live and she can "switch off" when she's there.

She added to Stylist magazine: "I always make sure I've got my family time, but, coming back and forth between Australia, you've got to block out even more time for jet lag recovery. But I'm very good at relaxing when I'm in Australia. It's fun because you can be really lazy and wear sloppy old clothes, we have a family farm and it's a lot more outdoorsy than the UK.

"Once I'm in that frame of mind I can totally switch off."

Preparing Morels

Amazingly enough, I've only had morels a couple of times so I don't have a "go to" recipe.

However, I'm procuring a pound of them this weekend and I've been looking for the best way to prepare them.

This site has tons of different favorite recipes. Most of them involve, cleaning, dipping in an egg mixture, dredging them through some manner of breading/coating and frying them up in a pan. So it's not rocket science.

But I'll probably just get 1 meal out of the shrooms so I have just 1 shot at getting it right.

By far, the greatest variations seem to be in the coating mixture. Some use crackers, some use flour, some use cornmeal, some use potato chips, some use Corn Flake crumbs. Others fry them up with no coating at all.

I've waded through these various methods and here is what I've decided to try. If anybody has a better way they want to share or see where I'm doing something horribly wrong, please speak up!

XO's MORELS
First I'll slice them in half and soak them in salt water overnight to clean them and kill anything in the nooks and crannies.

Lay them out on a paper towel and dry them off.

Mix up some eggs and milk, throw in come onion powder, a bit of garlic powder and some Old Bay.

For my coating mix I thought I'd try 1/4 Flour, 1/4 Seasoned fish fry mix, 1/4 crackers and 1/4 Corn Flake crumbs, all of it crushed into as fine a mixture as I can get it. Then I'll add some salt & pepper and some more Old Bay.

Take the shrooms out of the egg mixture and dredge them through the coating mixture, filling as many of the nooks and crannies as possible.

Gonna fry 'em up in a combination of real butter and bacon grease, turning them just once.

Put back on a paper towel to drain the grease and sprinkle them lightly with Parmesan cheese.

I thought I'd serve them up with some bacon wrapped fillet Mignon and broiled asparagus with Parmesan butter.

So what do you think? How does that sound?

Red Hot Chili Peppers album for August

Red Hot Chili Peppers will follow-up their 2006 'Stadium Arcadium' album in August.

Drummer Chad Smith has confirmed the new album but only joked about a title saying it might be called 'Hello, Is It Me You're Looking For', a reference to that cheesy old Lionel Richie ballad from the 80s.

Red Hot Chili Peppers officially started media reactivation when a promo CD was sent to American radio stations last week featuring 18 of their hits. The CD was titled 'Road Trippin' Though Time'. The release was to remind media of the legacy of the band since it was 5 years since their last album.

Yesterday (April 26), Rock Band announced Red Hot Chili Peppers were one of the most downloaded acts for their computer game.

Girls Aloud prepare 2012 comeback

Hilary Shaw, the pop band's manager, has confirmed their self-imposed hiatus will come to an end next year when the five-piece ' Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding ' return to the stage to mark their 10th anniversary.

She said: "Everybody wants them to make a comeback and it will be next year. Well, it is their 10th anniversary so there will be something.

"They speak all the time, and that includes Cheryl and Nadine [Coyle] with the other girls. Cheryl is keen to get back with the girls and is planning something which could be a one-off or some gigs."

The 'Biology' hitmakers ' who were formed on TV talent show 'Popstars The Rivals' in 2002 - have not performed together since they opened for Coldplay at Wembley Stadium in 2009.

While taking a break from the band, Cheryl has launched a successful solo career ' releasing two albums 'judged 'The X Factor' and has now been confirmed as a member of the judging panel on the US version of the pop star search show by Simon Cowell.

Earlier this year, Kimberley said it would be tough to get the band together for a reunion because of their hectic schedule.

She said: "It's not down to me. It's all of us - Cheryl's busy and Nadine's not in the country, she's in America, so it's difficult."

Christina Aguilera has praised her 'lovely' boyfriend

The 30-year-old singer has been romancing set designer Matthew Rutler since they met while working on her movie 'Burlesque', and she admits she is delighted to have found love again after splitting from husband Jordan Bratman last October.
Christina ' whose divorce was finalised earlier this month ' said: 'There is someone very lovely in my life. Yes.'

The blonde beauty ' who has a three-year-old son Max with Jordan - famously stumbled over the lyrics to American National Anthem when performing at the Super Bowl NFL game earlier this year, but she admitted she has learned to laugh about creating such an embarrassing memorable moment for herself.

She told TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres: ' think had a moment where I was at the Super Bowl at 30 years old. I took in the moment a little bit too much. Shoot me for appreciating the moment but here I am at the Super Bowl, singing for a team and in front of the world. And remembering what it was like to be that young and look where I made it now. And then it was like, 'Oh.'

'That night I knew, I just made myself a Trivial Pursuit question ' 'in 2011 what female singer, you know, flubbed the lyrics?' It's just insane. But I have a really good laugh about it and you get over things. You get back up again and you just prove to yourself and to everyone you're much stronger."

Take That's Howard Donald is to become a DJ in Ibiza this summer

The boy band member will be spinning the decks at superclub Eden on the Spanish island - famous for its club scene - after being asked by English DJ Judge Jules.

His first date, at the Judgement Sundays night on August 21, is just three weeks after the band finish their Progress Live tour this
summer.

Howard first took to playing house music when the group initially split in 1996, but had put it to one side when they relaunched their
career in 2005.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Howard's been DJing for years now.

At first he wasn't taken very seriously but now he's well respected.

"He's focused on the tour right now but is also excited about these DJ dates.

"To get the call from Judge Jules is a big deal.

"He'll be playing alongside huge names from house and techno but it will certainly be a different story to live shows with his group."
Other big names booked alongside Howard ' known as DJHD ' include Marco V, Eddie Halliwell, Ferry Corsten and Judge Jules himself.

Take That ' which also includes Jason Orange, Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams and Mark Owen ' will start their Progress Live tour in Sunderland, UK on May 30 and tour across Europe, ending in Munich, Germany on July 29.

Well Done, Mr. President!

I have 3 right-wing, conservative blogs in my reader.

I keep them there because reading the ignorant, uninformed, superstitious, bigoted. hate-filled goonbabble that oozes from them like green, smelly pus from an infected boil reminds me why it is so important to oppose these idiotic fucktards at every turn.

Today one of those blogs, Jo-Joe Politico was channeling another right-wing blog that I don't follow called The Malcontent.

Both of these bloggers had their panties in a twist over Obama's apologies. The headline on The Malcontent reads
"Obama Apologizes to the World. IT’S THAT LEFTIST SENTIMENT "BLAME AMERICA FIRST"
.
They then go on to list 11 of Obama's apologies.

The Malcontent closes his post by saying
"If you can’t see this as apologizing then I just can’t say anything else to convince you. But I will say that I' myself am so sick and tired of all these Obama apologists, it’s time that we called it like it really is. America has nothing to apologize for, nothing! We are not the arrogant ones, Obama is himself. He is the most arrogant, self-serving, self-loving, president that America has ever had. And I’m not even going to list all of his other bad qualities not here, anyway. When are you lefties going to call it as it is? And until you Liberals, Democrats, Progressives , start wising up and admit it to yourselves, we are in big trouble."

Jo-Joe closes his ditto-post by asking
"Do you agree with this assessment?"

I do, in fact, agree that each of the instances sighted was an apology. And I think it was about fucking time someone made those apologies.

Let's look at them one by one.

1. Apology to France and Europe ("America Has Shown Arrogance")
Speech by President Obama, Rhenus Sports Arena, Strasbourg, France, April 3, 2009.

So we must be honest with ourselves. In recent years we've allowed our Alliance to drift. I know that there have been honest disagreements over policy, but we also know that there's something more that has crept into our relationship. In America, there's a failure to appreciate Europe's leading role in the world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.

President Obama was absolutely correct.

He is referring to the reluctance of France and Germany in 1993 to join the United States and rush headlong into a war in Iraq.

From the BBC News in January, 2003:

Outrage at 'old Europe' remarks
French and German leaders have reacted angrily to comments by the US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld describing the two countries as "problems" in the crisis over Iraq.

French Finance Minister Francis Mer said he was "profoundly vexed" by Mr Rumsfeld's remarks - which branded France and Germany "old Europe - while a former employment minister described the US as arrogant.

"Germany has been a problem and France has been a problem," Mr Rumsfeld told Washington's foreign press corps on Wednesday.
"But you look at vast numbers of other countries in Europe, they're not with France and Germany... they're with the US.

"You're thinking of Europe as Germany and France. I don't," he said. "I think that's old Europe."

Because Germany and France demonstrated level-headed rationality and refused to drink the American Kool Aid, the U.S. flipped them off and told them to go fuck themselves. That's not the way you treat friends and allies. It was arrogant, it was rude and the United States absolutely owed the European Leaders an apology for our behavior.

Well done, Mr. President!

2. Apology to the Muslim World ("We Have Not Been Perfect")
President Obama, interview with Al Arabiya, January 27, 2009.

My job to the Muslim world is to communicate that the Americans are not your enemy. We sometimes make mistakes. We have not been perfect. But if you look at the track record, as you say, America was not born as a colonial power, and that the same respect and partnership that America had with the Muslim world as recently as 20 or 30 years ago, there's no reason why we can't restore that.

It was vital that the American President speak directly to the Muslim world and let them know that despite all of the ignorant, vitriolic, Islamophobic bloviating coming from hysterically paranoid rednecks and right-wing pundits, America IS NOT at war with Islam. Muslims are not our enemy. Rabid, violent extremists who engage in criminal acts are our enemies.

Well done, Mr. President!

3. Apology to the Summit of the Americas ("At Times We Sought to Dictate Our Terms")
President Obama, address to the Summit of the Americas opening ceremony, Hyatt Regency, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, April 17, 2009.

All of us must now renew the common stake that we have in one another. I know that promises of partnership have gone unfulfilled in the past, and that trust has to be earned over time. While the United States has done much to promote peace and prosperity in the hemisphere, we have at times been disengaged, and at times we sought to dictate our terms. But I pledge to you that we seek an equal partnership. There is no senior partner and junior partner in our relations; there is simply engagement based on mutual respect and common interests and shared values. So I'm here to launch a new chapter of engagement that will be sustained throughout my administration.

The United States will be willing to acknowledge past errors where those errors have been made.

What possible "errors" could he be referring to? When have we ever made any "errors" in our relationships with our Latin America neighbors?

Argentina 1890, Chile 1891, Haiti 1891, Nicaragua 1894, Panama 1895, Nicaragua 1896, Cuba 1898, Puerto Rico 1898, Nicaragua 1898, Nicaragua 1899, Honduras 1903, Dominican Republic 1903-04, Cuba 1906-09, Nicaragua 1907, Honduras 1907, Panama 1908, Nicaragua 1910, Honduras 1911, Cuba 1912, Panama 1912, Honduras 1912, Nicaragua 1912-33, Mexico 1913, Dominican Republic 1914, Mexico 1914-18, Haiti 1914-34, Dominican Republic 1916-24, Cuba 1917-33, Panama 1918-20, Honduras 1919, Guatemala 1920, Costa Rica 1921, Panama 1921, Honduras 1924-25, Panama 1925, El Salvador 1932, Uruguay 1947, Puerto Rico 1950, Guatemala 1954-?, Panama 1958, Cuba 1961, Cuba 1962, Panama 1964, Dominican Republic 1965-66, Guatemala 1966-67, Chile 1973, El Salvador 1981-92, Nicaragua 1981-90, Honduras 1982-90, Grenada 1983-84, Bolivia 1987, Panama 1989, Haiti 1994-95, Venezuela 2002, Haiti 2004.

I'd say we might owe them an apology or two.

Well done, Mr. President!

4. Apology at the G-20 Summit of World Leaders ("Some Restoration of America's Standing in the World")
News conference by President Obama, ExCel Center, London, United Kingdom, April 2, 2009

I would like to think that with my election and the early decisions that we've made, that you're starting to see some restoration of America's standing in the world. And although, as you know, I always mistrust polls, international polls seem to indicate that you're seeing people more hopeful about America's leadership.

I just think in a world that is as complex as it is, that it is very important for us to be able to forge partnerships as opposed to simply dictating solutions.

This was simply our President emphasizing to our world partners that the retarded cowboy who didn't know the difference between being a leader and being a bully is gone and apologizing for how fucked up our international relations had been for the previous 8 years. He was promising to do better.

Well done, Mr. President!

5. Apology for the War on Terror ("We Went off Course")
President Obama, speech at the National Archives, Washington, D.C., May 21, 2009.

Unfortunately, faced with an uncertain threat, our government made a series of hasty decisions. I believe that many of these decisions were motivated by a sincere desire to protect the American people. But I also believe that all too often our government made decisions based on fear rather than foresight; that all too often our government trimmed facts and evidence to fit ideological predispositions. Instead of strategically applying our power and our principles, too often we set those principles aside as luxuries that we could no longer afford. And during this season of fear, too many of us--Democrats and Republicans, politicians, journalists, and citizens--fell silent.

In other words, we went off course. And this is not my assessment alone. It was an assessment that was shared by the American people who nominated candidates for President from both major parties who, despite our many differences, called for a new approach--one that rejected torture and one that recognized the imperative of closing the prison at Guantanamo Bay.

Absolutely right! America cast aside everything we stood for, lowered ourselves to the level of our enemy, and declared war on a military tactic rather than pursuing the criminals who committed the crimes. He was right to apologize because in our frightened panic after 9/11 we abandoned our noblest aspirations and in doing so, we let down those who would look up to us for leadership.

Well done, Mr. President!

6. Apology for Guantanamo in France ("Sacrificing Your Values")
Speech by President Obama, Rhenus Sports Arena, Strasbourg, France, April 3, 2009.

Our two republics were founded in service of these ideals. In America, it is written into our founding documents as "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." In France: "Liberté"--absolutely--"egalité, fraternité." Our moral authority is derived from the fact that generations of our citizens have fought and bled to uphold these values in our nations and others. And that's why we can never sacrifice them for expedience's sake. That's why I've ordered the closing of the detention center in Guantanamo Bay. That's why I can stand here today and say without equivocation or exception that the United States of America does not and will not torture.

In dealing with terrorism, we can't lose sight of our values and who we are. That's why I closed Guantanamo. That's why I made very clear that we will not engage in certain interrogation practices. I don't believe that there is a contradiction between our security and our values. And when you start sacrificing your values, when you lose yourself, then over the long term that will make you less secure.

Although I agree with 95% of what our President said, I have to take him to task for not following through on his promise and his commitment. Guantanamo is still open and prisoners are still being held with no formal charges against them, no access to any real form of due process and no end in sight.

I'll give him a "Well done, Mr. President!" for his observation that "...when you start sacrificing your values, when you lose yourself, then over the long term that will make you less secure".

But I have to also paraphrase Ronald Reagan and say "Mr. Obama, shut down that prison!"

7. Apology before the Turkish Parliament ("Our Own Darker Periods in Our History")
Speech by President Obama to the Turkish Parliament, Ankara, Turkey, April 6, 2009.

Every challenge that we face is more easily met if we tend to our own democratic foundation. This work is never over. That's why, in the United States, we recently ordered the prison at Guantanamo Bay closed. That's why we prohibited--without exception or equivocation--the use of torture. All of us have to change. And sometimes change is hard.

Another issue that confronts all democracies as they move to the future is how we deal with the past. The United States is still working through some of our own darker periods in our history. Facing the Washington Monument that I spoke of is a memorial of Abraham Lincoln, the man who freed those who were enslaved even after Washington led our Revolution. Our country still struggles with the legacies of slavery and segregation, the past treatment of Native Americans.

Human endeavor is by its nature imperfect. History is often tragic, but unresolved, it can be a heavy weight. Each country must work through its past. And reckoning with the past can help us seize a better future.

We should always acknowledge and apologize for our treatment of Native Americans we subjugated and the slaves we used to build this country.

Well done, Mr. President!

8. Apology for U.S. Policy toward the Americas ("The United States Has Not Pursued and Sustained Engagement with Our Neighbors")
Opinion editorial by President Obama: "Choosing a Better Future in the Americas," April 16, 2009.

Too often, the United States has not pursued and sustained engagement with our neighbors. We have been too easily distracted by other priorities, and have failed to see that our own progress is tied directly to progress throughout the Americas. My Administration is committed to the promise of a new day. We will renew and sustain a broader partnership between the United States and the hemisphere on behalf of our common prosperity and our common security.

This is essentially the same as #3 above. My response is the same.

Well done, Mr. President!

9. Apology for the Mistakes of the CIA ("Potentially We've Made Some Mistakes")
Remarks by the President to CIA employees, CIA Headquarters, Langley, Virginia, April 20, 2009.

The remarks followed the controversial decision to release Office of Legal Counsel memorandum detailing CIA enhanced interrogation techniques used against terrorist suspects.

So don't be discouraged by what's happened in the last few weeks. Don't be discouraged that we have to acknowledge potentially we've made some mistakes. That's how we learn. But the fact that we are willing to acknowledge them and then move forward, that is precisely why I am proud to be President of the United States, and that's why you should be proud to be members of the CIA.

Holy Fuckballs. That's just a drop in the bucket! A person could make a 24/7/365 job out of apologizing for all of the stupid, fucked up shit the CIA has done around the world because they thought no one was watching. I've got news for you...the only people who WEREN'T watching was the American public! Everyone else in the world has always known just exactly what the CIA has been doing in our name. And you wonder why people hate us.

Well done, Mr. President!

10. Apology for Guantanamo in Washington ("A Rallying Cry for Our Enemies")
President Obama, speech at the National Archives, Washington, D.C., May 21, 2009

There is also no question that Guantanamo set back the moral authority that is America's strongest currency in the world. Instead of building a durable framework for the struggle against al Qaeda that drew upon our deeply held values and traditions, our government was defending positions that undermined the rule of law. In fact, part of the rationale for establishing Guantanamo in the first place was the misplaced notion that a prison there would be beyond the law--a proposition that the Supreme Court soundly rejected. Meanwhile, instead of serving as a tool to counter terrorism, Guantanamo became a symbol that helped al Qaeda recruit terrorists to its cause. Indeed, the existence of Guantanamo likely created more terrorists around the world than it ever detained.

Well SAID, Mr. President! You'll get a "well done" when you shut that fucker down. File formal charges, bring them to court, try them and either convict them or turn them loose. Guantanamo is the antithesis of everything this country stands for.

11. And he apologized to the Japan for bombing Hiroshima 65 years ago!
The bombing that brought a quick end to the war and prevented the actual land invasion of Japan and the killing of Thousands of Japanese and more American troops. Maybe the Japan should have apologized for all their war atrocities that they performed in WW2, including the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Actually, Japan did apologize for their war atrocities and the attack on Pearl Harbor when they signed the surrender agreement abourd the battleship U.S.S. Missouri in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945.

Whether or not dropping 2 atomic bombs on Japan was really the only way to end the war without massive casualties is a matter of debate among historians.

What members of the younger generation may not fully comprehend is that the atmic bombs we used were not "surgical smart weapons" like we have today. We completely obliterated 2 entire Japanese cities in the most horrendous manner ever used in war. We killed not just soldiers but women, children, babies. We destroyed hospitals full of sick and injured. The atmic bombs we used were straight up terror weapons. They were meant to so terrorize the Japanese people that they would capitulate out of pants-shitting fear. War or no war, those atomic bombs were terrorist attacks by the United States against Japan.

Was it the right thing to do? Probably. Truman certainly never had any second thoughts or regrets about it.

But any man who has ever been married for any length of time will tell you, just because you are right doesn't mean you shouldn't apologize.

Well done, Mr. President!

P.S. - Although not directly related to this post, allow me to leave you with this:

There. I fixed it. Now shut the fuck up.
